A CONTINUOUS ARCHITECTURAL LANGUAGE

“In MP HOUSE, silence defines the space, and the interplay of solid volumes creates fluid, intuitive pathways.”

Designed within a new residential development in Milan’s Isola neighborhood, MS HOUSE explores the rich tension between a continuous architectural container and meticulously crafted interior elements. The entire 80-square-meter footprint is enveloped in a warm gray microcement shell, floors, walls, and ceiling unified under a single, tactile texture that acts as a quiet, monochromatic backdrop, allowing the architecture to breathe.

MATERIALITY, DESIGN AND LIGHT

Resting inside this seamless envelope, rich built-in structures and iconic design pieces establish a sophisticated dialogue between raw surfaces and refined craftsmanship. A central wooden volume housing the guest bath and utility spaces extends effortlessly into the kitchen, where dramatic insertions of Calacatta Viola marble interrupt the dark-stained woodwork to frame functional zones, creating an impactful visual background for the entire living room.

Materiality flows naturally into bespoke furnishings and curated production pieces. The dining area features the iconic Spaghetti Chair by Alias in its tactile leather version, bringing a contemporary edge, light graphic silhouette, and rich material warmth to the table. In the lounge, a custom designed sofa floats on a solid brass base, featuring ivory velvet cushions that rest against a brass shelf to physically and visually delineate the living room from the dining space. Along the main wall, pure volumes of Calacatta Viola marble support full-length shelves, forming an integrated library that doubles as a commanding architectural centerpiece.

Lighting plays a dual, strategic role in defining the home’s contemporary character. Technical architectural lighting, typically reserved for retail and commercial environments, is boldly introduced into the residential realm through exposed tracks and spotlights, infusing the space with a hyper-contemporary gallery, like edge. In contrast, decorative lighting pays homage to timeless design icons: Louis Poulsen fixtures, Flos’s precise Coordinates suspension, and Nemo Lighting’s minimalist La Roche. Each decorative piece was selected not merely as a light source, but as a strong graphic gesture within the volume, bringing a distinct identity to every room.

THE INTIMACY OF SPACE

In the private quarters, three interconnected areas unfold through subtle transparency and reflection. A walk-in closet behind the bed is screened by opal glass that gently conceals and reveals garments, while a mirrored volume opposite the bed uses fragmented reflections to disguise a secret passage into the en-suite bathroom, an intimate sanctuary where wood and marble return as protagonists. Far from ostentatious luxury, MP HOUSE delivers a quiet, whispered sophistication defined by precise geometry, sculptural lighting, and fluid spatial transitions.

The space returns to where it began, with silence. Not as an absence, but as a carefully constructed atmosphere in which space, material, and light are allowed to speak for themselves.
